Sati Pasala Bundoora, Australia – August 2019

Sati Pasala Bundoora held the ninth session at Nick Ascenzo Community Centre, 2 Boronia Avenue, Thomastown, 3074 VIC, Australia on Sunday the 11th August 2019 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.
Altogether 20 children attended on the day and the following segments covered during the session.

  • Understanding Mindfulness (S1):  A discussion was initiated to revisit the important aspects of mindful walking and mindful sitting. The correct way of practicing mindful walking and sitting and what to observe during mindful walking and sitting was discussed. This was followed by live demonstrations carried out by facilitators to elaborate on the correct way of practicing mindful walking and sitting.
  • Guided Practice (S2):  Mindful walking and mindful sitting were practiced inside the hall.
  • Mindful Activity (S3):  The mindful activity ‘Passing the Cushion’ was introduced to all the children. Three different music was played using different musical instruments (Rabana, Thammattama and Conch Shell). By mindfully listening to the music, the direction of the passing of the cushion has to be altered (to the right, to the left or to keep passing on the same direction).
  • Reporting experiences (S4):  Children’s experience on mindful walking and mindful sitting was discussed in small groups followed with instructions provided on how to improve their practice on an almost individual basis.
