Sati Pasala or How to Practice Mindfulness

Sati Pasala Bundoora, Australia – May 2019

Sati Pasala Bundoora held the ninth session at Nick Ascenzo Community Centre, 2 Boronia Avenue, Thomastown, 3074 VIC, Australia on Sunday the 12th May, 2019 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.

Altogether 19 children attended on the day and the following segments covered during the session.

  • Understanding Mindfulness (S1):  A discussion initiated to introduce ‘Patience and Impatience’ via a short video clip ‘Impatient Yogi’. The external factors that make you impatient were brought in to the discussion by incorporating children’s experience. It was emphasized that the impatience arises within and by identifying it mindfully as it starts to arise, it is possible to avoid many unwholesome thoughts such as irritation and anger.
  • Guided Practice (S2):  Mindful walking and mindful sitting was practiced inside the hall.
  • Mindful Activity (S3):  The mindful activity ‘Mindful Basketball’ was introduced. Children’s experience was shared in a group discussion.
  • Reporting experiences (S4):  Children’s experience on mindful walking and mindful sitting was brought up in the discussion.

A Sati Pasala video clip on ‘Mindful Showering’ was shown and the children were asked to try it at home and report their experience at the next session.
