Sati Pasala, Sri Lanka would like to inform you that this is the time to use the healthy gesture that we use in Sri Lanka for greetings known as “Ayubowan”.  The saying of the word “Ayubowan” is accompanied with the gentle bowing of one’s head and keeping one’s hands together in the “Anjali position” as shown in the pictures below. This is a very good practice for the prevention of the spreading of all types of viruses. Physical contact such as “Hugging, Hand clasping and Hand shaking”, which are the more popular ways of greeting people in the world, should be avoided as they promote the spread of germs.
The word “Ayubown” also has a very special meaning. It is a respectful greeting and a blessing and translates to English as “May you have a long life”. This is a very healthy way of greeting a person that can be adopted by the entire world. The Sati Pasala children can be an example to the world by using the greeting “Ayubowan” mindfully. The following pictures illustrate how to say “Ayubowan”.
