On the invitation of the Secretary General of Parliament, the Sati Pasala Mindfulness Facilitators will conduct mindfulness programs for the staff of the Parliament on the 30th January. About 300 staff members will be exposed to mindfulness in two batches. Practical sessions will be conducted on mindful walking, mindful sitting, mindful eating and mindful listening. They will also be shown the magic mind jar and simple exercises will be conducted on how to allow the mind to settle slowly, mindfully and silently. Experiences from other countries on mindfulness in Parliament will be shared with participants.
On the 20th of February, the Honorable Speaker has allocated time for mindfulness to be introduced to all Members of Parliament. On that day, Mr. Jamie Bristow (Director, Mindfulness Initiative UK) who was instrumental in introducing mindfulness to Westminster in the UK, will join Venerable Dhammajiva and Sati Pasala members in the Parliament Mindfulness sessions.
