Sati Pasala or How to Practice Mindfulness

Sati Pasala for Scouts – Gampaha District

For the Founder of Sati Pasala (Venerable Dhammajiva Maha Thero), including Scouts, Girl Guides and Little Friends into the Sati Pasala family, had always been a dream. On the 28 & 29th September this dream became a reality when 35 scouts from the Nittambuwa Sanghabodhi Central College attended a Sati Pasala program at Nissarana Vanaya. On the request made by Mr Sanjeewa Dayananda, a fun filled two days of Mindfulness based activities was organized.
Venerable Dhammadipa Thero conducted guided Mindful sitting & walking sessions, whilst Cheero, the popular Italian yoga master kept the proceedings alive with very challenging yoga postures. The young scouts were engaged in several activities within the monastery, with Mindfulness as the base. This included helping to clean the monastery premises and also a cheerful dip in the monastery pond!
A much longed for and traditional scouting activity such as creating a bon fire & jamboree could not be done, due to the Forest Department regulations the Monastery has to abide by. Except for this minor disappointment, all in all Scouting at Nissarana Vanaya was indeed a joyful experience.
Please see the photographs of these two lovely days.
