Sati Pasala or How to Practice Mindfulness

Sati Pasala Mindfulness Workshop at Wellington, New Zealand

On 21 July 2018, a workshop on Mindfulness was held at Dhamma Gavesi Meditation Centre in Wainuiomata, New Zealand. It was an absolute delight to watch 30 children spend seven hours unplugged from technology and focus on the present moment.
The workshop started at 9.00 am with a talk on mindfulness by Bhante Jinalankara, followed by a practical session of sitting meditation. Then there was an activity – making a paper pot. This was followed by a practical session on walking meditation to develop further skills of Mindfulness and become aware of the walking posture.
Pizza was served for lunch and while having lunch, children practiced mindful eating. Children watched three videos before embarking on a nature trail. The Workshop concluded with a short meditation session and a discussion on mindful eating.
