Sati Pasala or How to Practice Mindfulness

The Meepe Mindfulness Convention: November 4-5

The Meepe Mindfulness Convention

History will be created on the 4th November at the Meepe Teacher Training Institute of the National Institute of Education, Ministry of Education, when senior Education representatives from all 98 Education Zones gather for a two day mindfulness workshop organized by the Sati Pasala Foundation. This is part of the ongoing process where outreach of the Sati Pasala mindfulness initiatives is been extended to every school in every province. As of now National Schools teachers of all nine provinces have been exposed to mindfulness. But the wider reach of covering all schools in the provinces with introduction to mindfulness to all teachers and students, is now beginning.
At Meepe during the two day residential program, Sati Pasala Mindfulness Facilitators will take these Education officers in a step by step manner towards understanding mindfulness. Using practical mindfulness training, yoga, mindful sitting & Mindful walking and special interesting & interactive sessions, these officials will experience the taste of being mindful. They will also be encouraged to share this practice with their colleagues. Soon they will identify 10 Mindfulness Trainers from each Education Zone so that 980 MFs will form an all island pool, which will take this practice to the schools.
Senior educationist Mr Somabandu Kodikara (Principal of Vidura College Primary) will lead the MMC and will guide the Facilitators during this exciting two day event. He will be joined by Mr Mutu Sivagnanam (formerly from the Ministry of Education) who will assist the officials from the Tamil medium schools particularly from the North & the East.
