Sati Pasala or How to Practice Mindfulness

Sati Pasala Bundoora, Australia – September 2019

Sati Pasala Bundoora held the fourteenth session at Nick Ascenzo Community Centre, 2 Boronia Avenue, Thomastown, 3074 VIC, Australia on Sunday the 8th September 2019 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.

Altogether 12 children attended on the day and the following segments covered during the session.

  • Understanding Mindfulness (S1):  A discussion was initiated to introduce ‘Resilience’ to the group. A video clip on resilience was shown to emphasize the meaning further. During the discussion, the comments received from children indicated that they grasped the meaning correctly.
  • Guided Practice (S2):  Mindful walking and mindful sitting was practiced inside the hall.
  • Mindful Activity (S3):  The mindful activity ‘Jenga’ was introduced to all the children and a set of Jenga blocks was given to a pair. They have been advised to be in SMS when playing this. Most of the pairs were managed to use SMS and play the game successfully. The idea of being resilient was further emphasized through this game.
  • Reporting experiences (S4):  Children’s experience on mindful walking and mindful sitting was discussed in a group. Each child was given a chance to talk about their mindful experience. It was followed with instructions provided on how to improve their practice.
