Mindfulness for the Health Sector – December 2nd at SLFI

The Sati Pasala Foundation has organized the first mindfulness program for professionals of the Health Sector. Doctors, nurses, family health physicians, psychiatrists & officials of key health sector institutions will participate at this exciting work shop scheduled for the 2nd December.

A special Resource Person invitee (Venerable Paññāvamsa Thero, Founder of the Mindkraft Foundation) will share experiences on mindfulness based stress reduction & mindfulness based cognitive interventions, and EQ related programs.

Prof Diyanath Samarasinghe (Founder, Health Promotion Foundation) will share experiences in dealing with victims of harmful habits and destructive addictions, and on how to be in control over ones self.

There will be special sessions by Sati Pasala team members who will demonstrate practicing mindfulness using colorful examples. And Venerable Dhammajiva will lead guided mindfulness sitting and walking.

The Global Mindfulness Summit Pre Events

Three important GMS Pre events have been planned in February close to the Summit Inauguration. These will be held at the SLFI. If you have already registered for the Summit you would have received an email asking for definite confirmation of participation. Please reply that email confirming your attendance asap.
You will then receive a Registration Number. Please save that number and bring it with you when attending the Summit. Only those with a Registration Number will be entitled to entry.

Sati Pasala Introduction Programme at Gadaladeniya M V Gadaladeniya, Pilimatalawa

The above program was held on Thursday 16th November at Main Hall of the college from 9.00 am to 11.15 am.  Participants were about 115 students of year 6,7,8,9 and 10 together with 7 teachers. The Principal of the college Mrs. R M D K Samaratunga was very supportive for the activity and provided all facilities for the event, though she was unable to take part in the event.  In fact, Mrs Kandewatta, one of the teachers and a MF trainer of Kandy District has done some ground work to introduce Sati concept to the teachers and children of the school.  The coordinating teachers Mrs V Kandewatta, Mrs V S K Mahalekam, Mrs A M K Abhayaratne and Mr D Kasthuriarachchi extended their fullest corporation to our work.

Sati Pasala introduced to His Excellency the President

On the 8th November at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo, Sati Pasala was introduced to HE the President Maithripala Sirisena. The President endorsed the program positively and encouraged that mindfulness be shared with school children, parents and teachers island wide. He particularly emphasized the importance of using mindfulness to cope with problems students face during examinations (eg Grade 5 Scholarship exams) and the variety of tensions due to serious competitiveness in schools.
